This lap quilt is for some friends who recently got married. I didn’t finish the quilt in time for the wedding, but I’m only two weeks late.
This quilt is made with a technique called Half-Square Triangles (or HST) I’ve named it Tropical HST because the colors remind me of a tropical scene. Each square is made up of half white and half green or blue. The squares are sewn together in groups of 9, and those are then sewn together in groups of 4 to make one quilt square.
I outlined the shapes by hand-quilting.
The back is a more mellow blue print.
I think the hand quilting does a great job of emphasizing the diamonds and creating a warm crinkly texture.
