Another Jean Wedding Quilt

Matt’s youngest brother got married this weekend. I enjoy making lap quilts as wedding gifts. As I mentioned earlier this spring I got the quilt done in early May. However, I don’t like to show it on the web, until it’s been given as a gift. I don’t want to spoil the surprise.

Back in March I did show one of the quilt squares.

I made this quilt by sewing nine 4.5″ squares together. In one set I had the four corners and center square as corduroy, and the other four jeans, like the ones shown above. In the other set I had all 9 different shades of jeans. These larger sets were alternated in the layout of the quilt. The pattern isn’t very obvious, but it did help to distribute the colors more evenly. Here the blocks outlined in red to emphasize them.

There are 24 of these larger squares in the whole quilt. It then has a 3 inch border of blue fabric, which is the same as the backing fabric. It is almost 50 inches wide and 73 inches long. I tied the quilt with a cotton yarn in every other square.

We wish them all the best in their new marriage!
